Food blogger Qiao Beinan transmigrates into the body of a frail young man. After breaking with his scumbag father and stepmother, he has only the restaurant his late mother left behind to rely on. His cruel father poaches every last chef from the restaurant, and the original owner is so furious he drops dead.
Qiao Beinan sighs. Since he's taken over someone else's body, he ought to do something for him. His scumbag father, stepmother, and illegitimate child are all in for a hard time!
The restaurant has no chefs, but Qiao Beinan has excellent cooking skills, so he takes over the kitchen himself and gets the place back in shape for reopening. First, though, he picks up a man.
The man is injured, and Qiao Beinan takes him in for a few nights. By chance, he becomes the restaurant's first customer on opening day.
The restaurant's wide variety of noodles and carb-heavy dishes takes the breakfast market by storm, earning everyone's praise.
At lunch and dinner, customers can choose from all kinds of regional cuisines:
Sichuan dishes like hot pot, skewers, spicy chicken, twice-cooked pork, and fish-fragrant shredded pork, all spicy, numbing, and aromatic;
Cantonese dishes like clay-pot rice, assorted braised meats, roast chicken, duck, and goose, plus every kind of seafood;
Hunan dishes like chili-fried pork, stir-fried blood duck, smoked pork with dried tofu, and sour-and-spicy chicken giblets, all perfect with rice;
Northeastern dishes like chicken stewed with mushrooms, goose stewed in an iron pot, big dumplings, eggplant with potatoes and peppers, and sweet-and-sour pork, all cheap and generously portioned;
Add barbecue, late-night snacks, and all sorts of milk tea and fruit tea, and the whole prefectural city is soon buzzing, giving his scumbag father and stepmother a satisfying slap in the face!
There are so many customers that Qiao Beinan is worn to the bone. Just then, the man he once saved in passing sends him a whole lot of waiters and kitchen helpers.
Qiao Beinan: You're a pretty good guy. Here's a VIP card. Come eat whenever you want.
What he doesn't realize is that the man is interested in more than his cooking.

Lu Chuanbai, young master of the Kongque Mountain Academy, has had little appetite for as long as he can remember. He eats simply to stay alive.
While investigating a case, he is ambushed and fortunately rescued by a restaurant's young proprietor. The proprietor cooks for him himself, and the food turns out to suit his palate perfectly. For the first time in his life, he finishes two bowls of rice, astonishing his attendant, who thinks he's been replaced by an impostor.
Lu Chuanbai starts visiting the Qiao family restaurant at regular times. He watches the young proprietor's business thrive and the number of customers grow, until the man is exhausted and thin.
Lu Chuanbai: This won't do!
So he sends his attendants over to work at the restaurant, giving the young proprietor time to cook something special for himself.
The young proprietor is a great cook, kindhearted, and unattached. Lu Chuanbai thinks, I have to bring him home.
