[Harry Potter] The Long Journey into the Night

Twelve years have passed since The Potters defeated Voldemort in a battle at the Ministry of Magic. Countless unnamed casualties have been buried in the dust of history. To forget the fear and pain of that era, people had to forget the heroes behind the heroes.

Until one sunny afternoon, Ginny Weasley found an old, forgotten newspaper in the library. The past stirred back to life.

"There are those who, when night falls, walk into it."

* AU, heavily altered plot, with many original elements and plenty of questionable research. In this story, James and Lily were the ones who first killed Voldemort, not the infant Harry. This changes the plot completely.

* A faux ensemble cast. The central character is an original character, Cordelia Smeck, but she won't make a direct appearance before the end of Volume One.

* The story has an outline. I came up with this whole pot of dumplings for just a few spoonfuls of vinegar, so some Death Eaters have been made more powerful. I'll write and post one chapter at a time, and won't abandon it unless I discover a major, irreparable plot hole.

* Pairing: Cordelia/Sirius, a nontraditional romance.

* Hope you enjoy reading!

Theme: Fated partings, with the promise that we'll meet again up ahead
