Tan Shu, who had been bent over tattooing a client, lifted her eyes indifferently. She glanced at the butterfly-shaped birthmark on Wen Hengwen's arm. "Sure."

On Wen Hengwen's first day after transferring to this county high school, a gang of thugs took notice of her apparent wealth and aloof personality.

As it happened, her homeroom teacher paired her with Tan Shuning, a notorious figure even among the local thugs, as a study partner, supposedly to help a classmate improve.

She strongly suspected the teacher was just passing the problem along and shirking responsibility.

But when she read Tan Shuning's file, she decided to get involved anyway.

The tattoo shop was full of all kinds of people, and she was still a little scared.

But looking at the face half-hidden in shadow, she mustered her courage and casually pulled out the money. Wen Hengwen knew that if she simply lectured Tan Shuning, she'd be kicked out, so she came up with the unconventional idea of hiring her as a bodyguard.

It was a little stupid.

Luckily, Tan Shuning agreed.

Even more luckily, she only had to spend a little money to gain Tan Shuning's protection for the rest of her life.
