Qiu Ning made a living scavenging battlefields. One day, she risked her life to steal the mask of the God of War, Prince Beiding, and was caught red-handed. Xiao Ningye pointed his sword at her throat. "Thieves are dealt with under military law. Leave her corpse out for three days!"

Thinking fast, Qiu Ning used her map-reading skills to save her own life.

Serving the prince was like serving a tiger. He had a face of peerless beauty, yet carried the bones of a god-killer, striking fear into enemy armies. Nothing in the world could come near him, save for his jade dragon sword, which he hugged even in his sleep.

While traveling with the army, Qiu Ning couldn't resist her old habits and secretly collected the things he threw away: a chipped teacup, bloody scraps of cloth, worn-out socks... She even made off with an old undershirt.

On closer inspection, the girl was clever and quirky, talented at reading maps, and radiant as a spring flower when she smiled. Perhaps she was... rather easy on the eyes?

Qiu Ning: ...Never mind. I can still make off with more junk.

Then the God of War's personal belongings were sold for a high price at a pawnshop in the capital, and his undershirt fetched a thousand taels of gold.

Xiao Ningye flew into a rage. "Are you willing to throw your life away for money?!"

With Qiu Ning pinned in a corner, she caught sight of the red at the corners of his eyes and had a sudden flash of inspiration. "Tears. Someone would pay ten thousand taels of gold for one of your tears! The court is withholding military pay, so why don't we go into business together? I'll draw up a list of God of War perks...
