Three hundred years after Shen Que died, he miraculously crawled out of the coffin that had been nailed shut.
The good news was that he was alive. The bad news was that he had lost most of his soul and could barely remember anything. Forget tracking down a murderer at midnight: aside from a few hazy, basic memories, he didn't even know his way around.
Fortunately, old habits die hard, and Shen Que still had one outstanding quality: he could talk your ear off.
Thanks to his endless chatter, Shen Que soon fit right in with the juniors he met along the road.
One junior said as he cracked sunflower seeds, "That battle back then was absolutely brutal. Lord Zhuosheng, Shen Buding, died a truly miserable death. Senior and junior disciples all turned against one another, and Lord Yuzhao was the cruelest of them all. He summoned his life-bound sword, Yuehua, and ran Shen Buding right through."
Shen Que, Lord Zhuosheng, who had been dead for three hundred years, said, "Really? Really? I've been in seclusion for hundreds of years. I've never heard such a legendary story." He happily grabbed a handful of seeds from the junior. "Who was Lord Yuzhao again?"
"Lord Yuzhao? That's the current master of Fengtian Peak, of course..." The junior's voice abruptly stopped.
"That would be me." A voice, both unfamiliar and familiar, sounded behind him. Shen Que jolted as if electrocuted, scattering sunflower seeds everywhere.
"Shen Buding, long time no see."
Shen Que: "..." Wait, who was it that supposedly stabbed him to death?
Shen Que's shattered soul thought long and hard, but he still couldn't remember how he'd managed to anger the gentlest senior brother in his memory enough to have him run a sword straight through him.
