This is the story of Fuhu, Lord of the Wangchuan River, and his disciple Yi An, as well as the stories of various demons.
Gorgeous, ruthless master x aloof disciple who keeps his heart closed / (updated daily)
"Walk the Yellow Springs Road, drink Granny Meng's Soup, cross the Bridge of Helplessness, forget this life and your past life, and enter reincarnation."
If you don't want to forget the person you love in this life, you can give up Granny Meng's Soup and leap into the Wangchuan River. The vengeful ghosts in the river will tear at you without end, and the pain will pierce your heart. But after a thousand years, you can return to the mortal world and search for your beloved.
After that, no one ever spoke of what happened. No one knew that after a thousand years of torment, the ghosts had drained the person's heart's blood, turning them into a demon.
Only someone like that would know that the Wangchuan River actually had a master: Fuhu, the "Demon King," a man who subdued every vengeful ghost in the river, was beyond the control of the Five Emperors of the Three Realms, and was revered even by Ksitigarbha despite living in the underworld.
Yi An was found by Fuhu in the Wangchuan River. In other people's eyes, Fuhu was a great benefactor who helped demons return from the river to reunite with their loved ones and fulfill their wishes. But Yi An knew how ruthless Fuhu could be in his darker moments. Yi An knew he was being used, too, but he was willing to pretend otherwise. That was his master, his sun. Helping demons who had returned from the Wangchuan River fulfill their wishes brought Yi An face to face with too much sorrow, joy, and hatred, and helped him understand his own heart.
"If Master wants it, I will offer you everything."
"Yi An, what I want is something you can't give me."
