Blurb: Shu Hui, a battle-hardened woman soldier in the apocalypse, dies while investigating the origin of a virus in Yuncheng. After her death, she is reborn in the 1990s as a mistreated young wife.
Her previous self couldn't take any more abuse from her in-laws and husband, so she took poison and killed herself, leaving behind a three-year-old daughter.
Shu Hui: Your husband is cheating? Your in-laws are beating and berating you? Let's see if they can stand up to these fists as big as bowls.
After divorcing, she takes her daughter back to her parents' village, where the local hooligans come around to harass her.
Shu Hui: Congratulations. You just picked a fight with a brick wall.
Ever since Shu Hui returned to the village, everyone starts following the principles of civility, propriety, and public virtue. The drunks and gamblers all learn to steer clear of her.
Shu Hui: If you've got a problem with that, come at me. I've got plenty of strength and plenty of ways to deal with you.
In that turbulent, feverish era, Shu Hui opens a clothing shop, beats up street thugs, and kicks the legs out from under road bandits. Everyone in Yuncheng respectfully calls her "Boss Shu."
While running her business and earning money to raise her child, Shu Hui continues investigating the origin of the apocalypse virus. In the end, she discovers that her unintentional actions have already changed the course of the world's future.
Theme: Keep striving, and save the world.
