2. The heroine is Megumi's mother, herself.

3. This is not a female-lead-centered story.

4. The story follows Megumi's family.

5. Apologies for any out-of-character moments in this fanfic.

When Zenin Megumi was one year old, his mother was taken from him in a sudden shipwreck.

His father, Toji, searched tirelessly for a long time, but found nothing.

His wife's disappearance took Toji's soul with her. He couldn't raise the child alone, so he abandoned his pride and wandered from one household to another with the child in tow.

Megumi thought things would stay that way for the rest of his life.

A turning point came when he was four.

Hirose, a neighbor who had always treated him well but had suddenly grown cold toward him, blurted out a shocking secret amid furious curses.

He said Megumi's mother hadn't been in a shipwreck at all. She had simply returned to "that world"! How enviable!

The young boy couldn't understand what that meant, so he turned to his father for help.

The child thought: Toji looks terrifying.

Megumi was carried into the bedroom by his father.

After a strange silence, Toji sat beside the boy and stared fixedly at him for a long time. Then he said:

[I think I found your mother.]

Theme: Even if we're separated by an entire world, I'll do everything I can to return to your side.
