1.

The two most important people in Li Tianxi's life are her mother, Li Xi, and Ji Huaishan.

She wears a uniform shirt, every button fastened up to the collar. Her face is devoid of expression, cool and aloof.

Li Tianxi loves Ji Huaishan, but Ji Huaishan loves Li Xi.

"Ji Huaishan, I want you to love me."

The black umbrella partly hid Ji Huaishan's impassive gaze. Through the blurry rain, she held the umbrella out to Li Tianxi.

"I'm sorry. I only want to be your stepmother."

2.

Li Xi spoiled her daughter. Whatever Li Tianxi wanted, she gave her.

Ji Huaishan looked at the woman before her and bent down to wipe away her tears.

"Don't cry. I can love her."

"You mean it?"

"Mm."

Ji Huaishan leaned down, pinning her to the sofa, and lifted a strand of hair from beside her ear.

"Kiss me once, and I'll get together with your daughter."
