Qin Guanjiu, a master's graduate with dual degrees in traditional Chinese painting and history, missed a step and plunged into the starry sea.
In the interstellar age, mental power is a necessity and a weapon against the Zerg. The profession of "artist," whose paintings can restore mental power, came into being.
However, the Zerg have squeezed humanity's living space, and imagination is just as scarce in this world of dwindling supplies. Artists capable of successfully creating "spirit paintings" that capture both form and spirit are exceedingly rare. The profession of artist is even gradually being dismissed as useless.
Qin Guanjiu: This is right up my alley. Anyone interested in traditional Chinese painting?
A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains: Increases the speed of mental power recovery by 300%!
Along the River During the Qingming Festival: Increases the maximum mental power limit by over 50%!
Court Ladies of the Tang Dynasty: On the surface, it trains mental resilience. Behind the scenes, it's also a battle illusion!
Later, Qin Guanjiu became the object of a scramble between all the major factions, and got rich overnight.
She had planned to live a quiet life as a wealthy artist, but human traitors working for the Zerg actually tried to kill her!
Qin Guanjiu: I don't bother others if they don't bother me. If they do... How about a little Chinese mythology?
The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, Havoc in Heaven, Nezha Conquers the Sea...
Human traitors: Who said artists were just mental-support healers? Why does she hit so hard?
The epic scroll, Classic of Mountains and Seas!
The Zerg army: Weren't humans supposed to be weak and easy prey? What are all those ferocious beasts? The bugs are gonna die!
Everyone says the Zerg cannot be defeated.
Their bodies are twisted and enormous, their mental power tenacious and bizarre. As long as even a sliver of mental power remains, they can come back from the dead.
Even the finest mecha pilots, driving humanity's most powerful weapons into battle one after another, can do no more than buy a little time for humanity to cling to life.
And artists? They're just mecha pilots' accessories, their mental-support healers.
That is, until Qin Guanjiu descended from the heavens with her traditional Chinese paintings and Chinese civilization.
She said, when disaster strikes...
The human spirit is humanity's first weapon.
Only then did people understand that artists weren't just painting pictures.
They were painting humanity's civilization, the flame of its legacy, and the sharpest blade forged from the faith of countless people!
That day,
The scroll titled Legacy unfurled. Mythical beasts from the Classic of Mountains and Seas danced with steel mecha, while divine music and celestial melodies rang out in harmony with the thunder of cannon fire.
The Zerg writhed in their ugly bodies, then vanished amid their screams.
May humanity
flourish forever!
