Actually, jujutsu sorcerers were already a bunch of lunatics. He'd just become even crazier.
After getting out, Gojo Satoru couldn't say for sure whether he was mentally sound. But when he suddenly lost control of his body in a fight and was killed off by the plot, he was certain this world had gone insane.
The world consciousness, driven mad by the regrets of countless people, came to him. The two crazies hit it off and decided to free the world from its original, shitty fate.
And the first step to saving the world was finding all the jujutsu sorcerers who had been killed off by the plot.
After going through several worlds, Gojo Satoru discovered something: As long as you're crazier than everyone else, no one dares go crazy! Exactly. He's talking about his best friend, a professional at playing darkened villains!
In every world, Geto is afraid Gojo will lose it and destroy the world: I don't dare turn evil. I really don't dare turn evil.
This is basically the Jujutsu Kaisen cast in various AUs.
