Have you read Dream of the Red Chamber? At the end of the story, Baoyu marries Baochai, and Daiyu dies after shedding all her tears.
Xia Yuchu remembered the New Year's performance in high school, when her class had put on a scene from Dream of the Red Chamber. Chen Jingyan played Baoyu, and she played Daiyu.
Dressed in red, a golden crown on his head, he drew cheers from the entire audience.
Xia Yuchu had always kept a secret: she had liked Chen Jingyan for a long time.
But the ending of their story turned out to be a stage play, too.

Ning Xi thought the most outrageous thing she'd ever done was have an illicit affair with her uncle.
Three years after their breakup, Ning Xi ran into He Xuyao at a hotel again. Reporting him for engaging in illegal dealings with two young models was the second most outrageous thing she'd ever done.
When the police arrived, He Xuyao put on a straight face and explained that his girlfriend had just gotten angry and made a joke on impulse. Ning Xi thought he was utterly shameless.
Only after everyone had left did someone pin her against the back of the hotel room door.
Their breaths mingled. Her breathing was unsteady.
She bit through his lip in anger and warned him, "You're my uncle!"
He Xuyao chuckled, his voice teasing. "Is that so? I thought I was the ex-boyfriend you couldn't get over."
