Synopsis
{Sickly, beautiful divine being x gloomy disciple who turns to hatred out of love}
Tang Junjing was born unlucky. He was bruised and purple all over when he came out of the womb. If his father hadn't crawled and kowtowed all the way from the birthing room to the temple, banging his head until it bled, Tang Junjing would never have had the chance to open his eyes.
For the first time in over a thousand years, the cold-hearted, aloof, and haughty Great Emperor softened. That gave Tang Junjing the chance to live. So the first thing he saw was the Great Emperor of Rosy Light, who seemed taller than the mountains and kept his eyes closed, unwilling to look upon the mortal world.
He thought it was fate. Many years later, he learned it was a curse, a debt.
That curse and debt meant his birth mother died the moment he opened his eyes. It meant he was chained up in a mountain shrine as a child. And when he tried to escape, his own father forced cinnabar into the space between his brows, making him a disciple offered as a sacrifice to a fallen immortal hated by both gods and ghosts.
After more than five thousand days kneeling in the temple, hatred took root and blossomed in his heart.
He wanted the Great Emperor of Rosy Light dead, but the Great Emperor of Rosy Light was already dead.
Then rumors suddenly arose that the Great Emperor had been resurrected. On a rainy night, Tang Junjing found a face he had spent every day and night facing, a face he could never forget even in death. Only then did he realize that all these years, his hatred had come down to one thing: the Great Emperor was far too aloof and would never open his eyes to look at the person who had struggled so hard to please him.

When Yun Qishi had slain countless demons and brought order to the Three Realms, establishing himself as emperor and basking in glory, he never imagined that one day his true identity would be exposed and he would go from being admired by all to a reviled outcast in an instant.
As his enemies closed in, he used his last divine power to protect his immortal soul. Taking with him the Sparrow Pavilion, which he had painstakingly nurtured with his heart's blood, and the sleeping person inside, he fell into a bottomless abyss. Overnight, every statue of the Great Emperor of Rosy Light in the world closed its eyes and stopped looking upon the mortal realm.
He never expected that thirty years later, someone would disturb his coffin and dig up his grave again and again for their own selfish reasons. Yun Qishi awoke, full of resentment, only to discover he had acquired a disciple he hadn't asked for.
Aside from having a beautiful face like a hibiscus, a red jewel set between his brows, and full, rosy lips that looked as though they'd been thoroughly ravished, this unwanted disciple also bore a striking resemblance to the person lying in the Sparrow Pavilion.
In a moment of passion, Yun Qishi deceived himself, claiming seniority to dominate his junior. He closed his eyes, gripped his disciple's chin, and kissed him hard, forcing him to accept the feelings Yun Qishi had hidden for a thousand years.
There was only one thought in his mind: his appearance, flesh, and bones were all alike, so why couldn't they be the same person?
An unserious little skit:
Tang Junjing and Yun Qishi were both inexperienced, one young and one old. Even after they laid their feelings bare, each of them kept all manner of unspeakable thoughts to himself while putting on an honest, pure-hearted act.
Until one day, Tang Junjing accidentally (allegedly) stumbled upon Yun Qishi bathing. He saw the man's sharply defined eight-pack, and the farther down he looked, the wider his eyes grew...
When Yun Qishi pulled him into the bath, Tang Junjing still couldn't resist asking, "You look like a sickly man who'd fall over if the wind blew, so how on earth did you end up with a body like this?!"
As Yun Qishi pinned him down, he still took the time to explain, "My family was rich once. When I was young, I ate a whole deer every day."
Tang Junjing's final thought before losing consciousness was, Good heavens, this pure-yang constitution is terrifying!
