[Unfinished, will fill in the rest someday]
Every summer vacation when he was little, You Xingjian spent his time at his grandpa’s house in the countryside.
That was where he met Jiang Mingxian, who could do anything, from climbing trees to swimming in rivers.
They met as children, but after his grandpa moved to the city to retire, You Xingjian never went back to the countryside and never saw Mingxian again.
He really missed her.
In his second year of high school, Mingxian came to the city to study and ended up in You Xingjian’s class. By then, You Xingjian had spent years soaking up the big-city lifestyle and had become a popular city boy.
“Hi, everyone. My name is Jiang Mingxian...”
As Mingxian introduced herself at the front of the classroom, You Xingjian urgently ran his hands through his hair beneath his desk to make it look even more stylish.
What he never expected was that Jiang Mingxian didn’t recognize him at all.
When You Xingjian finally told her, Jiang Mingxian blinked. “You... you’re Puppy?”
Only his grandpa called You Xingjian by that childhood nickname, and she had just casually blurted it out in front of the whole class.
You Xingjian had lost his real name.
Later, their classmates got together at a karaoke bar. You Xingjian lost a game, and everyone egged him on to call Jiang Mingxian “Master.”
He called her that, sacrificing his dignity, and Jiang Mingxian stammered in response.
You Xingjian realized that the seemingly clueless Jiang Mingxian only reacted differently when he called her “Master.”
Much later,
You Xingjian finally stopped pretending. In front of a crowd, he shouted to Jiang Mingxian, “Master! You won’t let me call you that, but I’m going to anyway! I just like you! I’m not kidding!”
