Lian Jue didn't react.
"This is your final life. If you can't be reborn, your soul will disintegrate and cease to exist forever."
Lian Jue didn't even spare it a glance.
The System pressed on with its pitch, despite its misgivings.
"All you have to do is enter the most famous old-school angst novels, turn around those catastrophic misunderstandings and tearful groveling scenes, collect enough affection points from your targets, and complete the soul-fragment collection missions. Then you'll receive a deluxe package granting eternal life for your soul. Don't just sit there dreaming, darling, take action!"
Lian Jue raised one eyebrow and turned to leave. "Let's go."
The System: Huh?
And so the System could only stare dumbfounded as the plot, thanks to Lian Jue's endless bizarre stunts, turned into a roller coaster fitted with brakes, careening through so many twists and turns that it nearly went off the rails.
Take the current situation, for example. A misunderstanding that should have been cleared up with a single sentence, yet Lian Jue stubbornly refused to say a word. The mission target's eyes brimmed with tears as he yanked his hand away and walked off without looking back. "I'll never trust you again."
Lian Jue stood there in a daze. After a long while, he covered his face and trembled all over, letting out a low, mocking laugh that still caught in his throat.
The System asked anxiously, "Host, are you... are you okay?"
Lian Jue wiped his face and let out a long, leisurely sigh. "That felt great..."
