Shen Qingtang was said to have brought death to his parents from a young age. His clan seized his family’s property and drove him out, leaving him to survive by scavenging in the village’s dilapidated temple.
The Song family were outsiders, but they were wealthy. Unfortunately, they had few heirs. Their eldest son, Song Yanxing, was in poor health and bedridden, while their second and third sons were twins still too young to shoulder the family’s responsibilities.
When Song Yanxing was seventeen, a sudden spring cold nearly took his life. He could not even get out of bed.
The doctors in town were helpless. In desperation, his father turned to a revered monk from Luoxia Temple for a reading.
The monk made a note in the merit ledger, calculated with his fingers, pointed west, and gave them two words: "A marriage to bring good fortune!"
Given Song Yanxing’s fate, the person who could bring him good fortune had to have been born at the hour of the Rat on Qingming Day in the Jiachen year.
This person was both easy and difficult to find. Shen Qingtang had been born at just that time. After all, everyone knew how tenacious his life force was. His extraordinary birth chart had long been the talk of the town.
But the Song family faced a dilemma. A marriage between two men went against the natural order, so they could only send people farther west to continue their search.
That very night, however, Song Yanxing began coughing up mouthfuls of blood. He was clearly taking his last breaths, so Master Song had no choice but to bring his steward and seek out Shen Qingtang.

Such a direction…
Heimlich maneuver hahaha 😂
It's too much. I feel sorry for Qingtang. Mrs. Song is really fooling around by crossing the river and burning the bridge. I thought she was a reasonable person before, but no one in the family came out to say anything.
I watched the first part carefully and thought it was okay, but the second half felt a bit strange. I just read it at a glance. I was a little surprised that the character of the Song family collapsed all of a sudden. After all, how good the description was in the first part, how unexpected it was in the second part when it collapsed. I thought it was a life story about hard work, but it turned out to be a story about burning bridges. It was too sudden, some storylines were not finished, there were too many characters, it looked a bit messy, and I felt that the rest of the plot was a bit broken.
