A story about a terrible man pursuing his wife after losing her, and taking her by force.
Ling Xin is a well-known feng shui master and fortune-teller in the county town.
Dignitaries from all around come to her for feng shui advice and predictions of good or bad fortune. She makes a modest living from it.
One day, she saves a man in his twenties. He's exceptionally handsome and turns out to be a poor scholar.
Seeing his situation, Ling Xin takes him in and keeps him. For nearly half a year, they spend their days indulging in pleasure, happier than they could be.
But the scholar is actually a nobleman from the imperial capital, and he's long held real power. He only ended up in this state after being framed by someone above him. He never thought much of her and only treated her as a diversion.
Ling Xin sees it all and simply smiles. That's fine. She only wanted his body, too.
Years later, the scholar has become a powerful minister at court. At a friend's home in the capital, he sees Ling Xin, who is about to marry his friend.
The minister gives a sinister smile. "Marry him? After getting involved with me, you think you can marry someone else?"
