In her previous life, Princess Zhaoyue was deceived by her cousin and died in her husband Lu Li's arms on her wedding night.
When she opens her eyes again, she has been reborn two years earlier. Her cousin is coaxing her into skipping class to go boating, while Tutor Lu Li stands before her desk, watching her with a dark gaze.
This time, he pretends to go along with her cousin's schemes while secretly plotting and fighting to secure the crown prince's position for his younger brother!
Just as she carefully lays her plans, her previous life's husband, Lu Li, ruthless and cold-hearted, keeps showing up at just the wrong moment whenever she's up to no good, leaving her in a terrible state.
To bribe Lu Li, she pretends to admire him, caters to his tastes, and pesters him relentlessly. Yet he still uses her schoolwork as an excuse to rap her knuckles, make her copy books, and keep her alone in the classroom.
Unable to take it anymore, she announces that she admires Lu Li and will marry no one else. She hopes this will force him to keep his distance and foil his plans.
Who would have thought she'd fall right into his trap?
Tutor Lu Li had long yearned for Princess Zhaoyue. He watched helplessly as she died in his arms on her wedding night.
Reborn in this life, he sees her again. She's just as infatuated with the Heir of Wei as before, playful and lively, dazzling enough to attract everyone's attention.
Watching her shed the timid, weak manner of her previous life, laughing and chatting with the sons of noble families and going on a boat ride with the new top scorer, he sees her accept flowers and love poems from anyone who offers them. Jealous, he seizes on her misdeeds, keeping her in the classroom, making her copy books, and rapping her knuckles so she has no time to see anyone else.
When she finally blurts out that she has feelings for him and will marry no one else, he rushes to ask the emperor for an imperial decree of marriage and takes her as his bride by force.
In this life, no matter what, he has to claim her first.
On their wedding night:
"If I remember correctly, Tutor Lu, you used to rap my knuckles!"
"Have you forgotten who went boating at night with Miss Zheng and the top scorer?"
"Lu Li, so you really are bringing up the past! Waaah... let me go."
"You still have the strength to call my name, so it seems you're not tired yet..."
"Waaah... I was wrong, Lu Li. Let me go."
