Soothe Her

[It's a sweet story!]

Blurb:

A horrific tragedy in Rongcheng leaves Luo Xiangxiang an orphan.

Of a family of five, only she and a dog survive.

Unable to bear the chattering voices in the hospital room as people passed her around like merchandise, Luo Xiangxiang ran away in the middle of the night with the dog in her arms.

She thought, Anyone could abandon her, but he definitely wouldn't.

But when she returned to that place, she could barely remember the way.

She waited outside the barbershop where she'd played as a child until dark, before the tall, slender figure of a boy appeared beneath the dim streetlamp.

His features had long since blurred in her memory. He'd grown so much over the years, like a shoot stretching toward the sky. He was a stranger, yet his presence comforted her.

She knew he wouldn't abandon her.

Yu Sheng had imagined countless ways they might meet again, but never anything like this.

The girl in his memories loved to laugh and play. The only time she'd cried her hardest was the day they parted, when she'd unreasonably taken his dog, insisting it belonged to both of them and she couldn't bear to leave it behind.

But now she wasn't smiling, and tears still glistened on her small face.

His heart ached. He lowered his eyes, his fingertips trembling.
