"Even if evil spirits roam and ghosts run wild, the human world becomes a furnace, and the heavens turn into Fengdu, I will still become Pangu, the one who cleaves open heaven and earth for you."
We strive toward a common goal, traveling in opposite directions only to meet at the other end of a circle with the same center.
There are six guardians who patrol the Three Realms. Ling Chen is the most overworked of them, a low-ranking guardian of the human realm responsible for capturing evil spirits and investigating supernatural cases.
Lately, he's heard that a troublemaker in the Netherworld has been stirring things up and is revered by evil spirits as the Nether King. With barely any spiritual power and always on the run from evil spirits, Ling Chen somehow ends up crossing paths with a big shot from the Netherworld.
It all began with the first ghost case Ling Chen investigated at Xiangcheng University. What seemed like a simple case of a corpse's aura possessing someone unexpectedly drew in multiple factions. The most powerful among them was Jiang Quyan, a celebrated big shot of the Netherworld. Ling Chen can't beat him, so he can only humor him and play along. They seem to be going in opposite directions, but Ling Chen gradually realizes that Jiang Quyan's actions don't quite fit his public image.
At the same time, a shocking conspiracy from the Heavenly Realm begins to surface...
