Sugar Kill

Police in Yichu City discover a man's corpse in a shabby old rental apartment.

He was drenched in boiling syrup. His entire body was ravaged, and he died of an infection.

His next-door neighbor was poisoned to death, and the contents of their private social media feed were shocking.

Jiang Yizheng, captain of the criminal investigation squad, repeatedly canvasses the area and reviews surveillance footage, trying to piece together the connections.

Then a phone call interrupts her. A woman's derisive laughter comes through the receiver:

"I killed them both. Go ahead and sentence me."

She boiled a pot of syrup with her own hands, then poured it over him, casting an everlasting tombstone.
