Ming Yun always thought of himself as an unremarkable college student. He had picked a notoriously useless major, and graduated straight into unemployment.
After sending his resume to every opening he could find, he got a reply and landed a job as a live-in servant at an estate.
Only after muddling his way into the job did Ming Yun realize it was anything but simple. Every day, he had to arrange everything for the estate's four residents, from meals to travel, and also go out on assignments and deal with the strange guests who came and went.
A day in Ming Yun's life:
In the morning, he made coffee for the estate's owner, the president of a luxury hotel chain. The man wore a black suit, was a tall, cold, humorless workaholic, and often sent Ming Yun out to handle errands at the hotels.
But the performance bonuses were good, so he put up with it.
After returning from an errand, Ming Yun had to deliver medicine to the lady of the house, who was bedridden. She had been in a wheelchair for years, her face hidden behind a veil. Now and then, sticky sounds came from beneath her voluminous skirt.
After receiving her medicine, the lady secretly handed Ming Yun a flower and gave a low, hoarse laugh. "It's for you."
In the afternoon, Ming Yun received guests. Today's visitors had been invited by the eldest young master.
The eldest young master was a famous doll artist who managed several museums and art galleries. His black hair was tied into a braid hanging down his back. Refined and handsome, he was always smiling.
Whenever the eldest young master finished entertaining guests, he would bring Ming Yun a new doll. Ming Yun noticed that some of the newly made dolls resembled the guests who had visited, and sometimes they let out eerie screams in the middle of the night.
He had gotten used to wiping down the dolls. It was normal for artists to have their little quirks.
In the evening, Ming Yun finished work and was getting ready to rest when the young master pounded on his door.
The young master was still in school. He hadn't even graduated from college, but was already dreaming of becoming a star and wanted Ming Yun to join him as an extra at a film studio.
Ming Yun had planned to refuse, but then the young master blinked pleadingly at him. "Xiao Ming, come with me, won't you?"
His heart softened, and he agreed.
While working, Ming Yun occasionally heard the visiting guests muttering strange things:
"The whole house is full of horror-story big shots. Are they raising Gu?"
"The Haunted Hotel, the tentacle boss from the aquarium, the dollmaker, and the performer are all here. What kind of hell difficulty is this?"

The Horror City was a city made up of countless horror stories. From time to time, it drew people from the real world in as players, forcing them to clear horror-story instances.
The players first encountered Ming Yun at an estate where horror-story bosses gathered.
Everywhere in the house was eerie. Even NPCs like the butler and servants watched them with hostile eyes.
Everyone was despairing and terrified, convinced they were as good as dead.
When Ming Yun approached, the players thought their time was up.
From what they had observed, this NPC was adored by the estate's bosses, so he had to be a formidable little boss himself.
Instead, Ming Yun brought them a cup of hot tea. His clear eyes shimmered with ripples, his delicate features made him look like an angel descended to earth, and his gentle smile seemed to melt the heart. "Guests, is there anything I can help you with?"
Later, at the Haunted Hotel, the art galleries, the museums, and the film set, the players kept running into Ming Yun, the NPC who had guided them and rescued them from danger.
Whenever Ming Yun was around, even a rampaging boss could be subdued with ease.
The players: Who gets it? We ran into an angel.

One day, Ming Yun picked up an item a guest had left behind and accidentally logged into a forum.
