[Blurb]
Feng Xi, young lord of the Phoenix Clan in the Divine Court, once had a wonderful lover while undergoing tribulation. Sadly, the young general died young protecting him, the emperor. From then on, Feng Xi could see no one else.
So when Feng Xi returned to the Divine Court, which ruled over thousands of minor worlds, he jumped straight onto the Reincarnation Platform without a second thought, believing that was how he would find his beloved.
He endured the fierce winds of the Six Realms without regret. When he discovered that the Crown Prince of the Divine Court was his lover's reincarnation, he swallowed the other's cold words because of the regrets he carried from their past life. The two of them even shared some happy times.
Then Feng Xi unexpectedly learned that the other man had retained his memories when he descended to the mortal realm.
In other words, the nightmare that had tormented him through two lifetimes was nothing more than a tool for the Crown Prince to undergo tribulation.
The other man had countless ways to avoid dying in battle, yet had chosen to fake his death and leave, abandoning Feng Xi to spend the rest of his life alone, consumed by regret.
The cheerful, lively little phoenix could no longer smile.

Those from the Divine Court who descend to the mortal realm are born innocent and unaware. Even Shang Lan, Crown Prince of the Divine Court, was no exception.
There were two things he had never regretted in this life. First, taking a potion before undergoing tribulation to preserve his memories, so he could return to the Divine Court sooner. Second, forgetting everything from his mortal life as a human, so that no matter how much pain Feng Xi suffered, he could not feel it himself.
So he never imagined that one day he would fall to his knees, eyes bloodshot, and ask that person what had really happened back then.
Do you love me, or him?
CP: Crown Prince of the Divine Court x young Phoenix Clan chieftain, younger gong
Inspired by the many stories I've read where the protagonist knows the plot and deliberately leads their partner on, only for the partner to be tormented after the protagonist fakes their death, regret everything, and suffer through a redemption arc. It made me wonder: what if the partner knew that even the protagonist's fake death had been carefully planned? What would happen then?
Theme: Deception can only be repaid with deception
