When Megumi was still a child himself, Gojo dropped off another kid for him to look after.

Hayami Roku: an automatic, injury-prone porcelain doll, so fragile it was worrying.

On his first day of school, the porcelain doll got bullied. He twisted his ankle, sat down on the ground, and started crying.

Little Megumi stood up for him, then carried Hayami Roku home, unwittingly laying the foundation for his "problem child" reputation.

And so, from elementary school through junior high, he protected him for a full eight years.

Hayami Roku said he liked black coffee.

Fushiguro: He's faking it. I don't know why he insists on liking all the same things I do.

Hayami Roku said his bangs looked good.

Fushiguro: He's faking it. Those bangs are weird. When he was little, he had a fever and his hair got tangled, so I cut it on a whim. I don't know why he still keeps it like that.

Hayami Roku said he liked me.

Fushiguro: He's faking... Wait?

Fushiguro: That one might actually be true.
