With the acceleration of urbanization, the scale and complexity of urban drainage systems are also increasing. The focus of urban drainage systems has gradually shifted from traditional control technology to more efficient, reliable, automated and energy-saving optimization. The optimized control of smart city drainage systems can improve the overall operating efficiency and stability of the drainage system through real-time control of drainage pipe networks, pump stations, gates, reservoirs and other facilities. Improving the operating efficiency of centralized water storage facilities and real-time monitoring of water pollution through real-time control methods is currently one of the most important optimization control methods. This article analyzes and compares the real-time control methods of urban drainage systems from the perspective of strategy generation method and actual control range respectively, summarizes the current challenges and risks in the research on optimal control of urban drainage systems, and finally looks forward to the application prospects of optimal control methods in the internal spatial storage function of drainage pipes and multi-objective optimal control of urban drainage pipe networks.
