Shen Xining, a PhD in agricultural science, wakes up one day in a desolate village. From the start, her family has nothing, the village is surrounded by barren wasteland where crops cannot be grown in soil, and the county magistrate is scheming against her.
Villagers: “The county magistrate threatened to send the young women from our village to a brothel to make money for him. If we refuse, he’ll cut off our food supply! The land here can’t be farmed, so without food we’ll starve to death! The roads are blocked too, so we can’t escape! What are we going to do?”
The county magistrate’s men: “Refuse, and you can starve to death! I won’t say which village is going to starve!”
Shen Xining, 21st-century agricultural science PhD, expert in soilless cultivation, bound to a Cultivation System: “Um, is this what they mean by good luck falling right into your lap? Someone’s showing off right in front of me, only to stumble into my area of expertise!”
“Can’t grow crops the traditional way? No problem! We’ll do SOILLESS CULTIVATION!”
“Root-knot nematodes are harming crops? Ah, but our village’s soilless cultivation keeps the roots completely separate from the soil. So sorry!”
“High yields, but no way to turn them into money? An integrated logistics and circular-industry demonstration base is already under construction! Folks from other villages don’t need to worry about ours. I know you’re anxious, but don’t be just yet!”
With green agriculture flourishing, Shen Xining becomes the village chief and leads the desolate village out of poverty and into prosperity!
Later...
The people who once looked down on her are dumbfounded. “What? Things really can grow on barren land? That poor village has become the richest around?”
Villagers from other places: “Waaah, Miss Shen, why don’t you come be our village chief too? Come to our Liu Family Village. No, no, if you’re willing to come, we’ll all become Shen Family Village from now on, hehehe...”
Her career is thriving, and everything is steadily improving. Shen Xining is immensely gratified!
There’s just one thing!
Why is Fu Yuxiu, the little sidekick she rescued and brought home, looking at her more and more strangely?
One day, Shen Xining has just returned from the fields when Shen Ern iu from next door hurries over. “Xining, are you tired?”
Meanwhile, Fu Yuxiu obediently sets down the meal he just cooked. “I’m not good with words. All I can do is quietly cook for you. I’m nothing like Brother Ern iu, who always knows just what sweet words to say to win someone over.”
Shen Xining: “?????”
