A Pet Funeral Director's Daily Life

Other people with yin-yang eyes can see ghosts. Chen Yi'an's yin-yang eyes can only see the souls of animals.

Chen Yi'an is a pet funeral director. His day-to-day work is seeing off the fluffy friends who have left Blue Star.

Duoduo is a golden retriever, 17 years old, who died of old age.

The elderly couple who had been by its side throughout its life tearfully said their goodbyes, unable to bear to let it go.

But it's hard to imagine that the elderly Duoduo is crouched at Chen Yi'an's feet, pawing desperately at his trouser leg with its big paws, chattering away: “Quick, tell them to burn me some pork bones! I can chew on them over there.”

Chen Yi'an glanced at it. “You only get one chance to appear in their dreams. Are you sure you want pork bones?”

Xiao Q is a tabby cat, only three years old, killed in a car accident.

The girl who raised it is consumed by guilt and cries herself to sleep every day.

In the farewell room, the little tabby darts around, knocking over the prayer table with one kick.

The girl, sobbing as she clutches the cat's body, suddenly looks up and murmurs, “Xiao Q, is that you? Have you come back?”

“No.” Chen Yi'an discreetly looks away and gazes at the tightly shut window. “It was the wind.”

Chen Yi'an has never had a pet, but ever since he can remember, a little white dog has often appeared in his dreams.

The dog is small, pure white, with thick, soft fur that feels wonderful to touch.

It's incredibly clingy, always pestering him for affection, sitting obediently as it waits for him, and keeping him company while he eats and sleeps.

Chen Yi'an has never even seen it, but he really should have a little dog.

It seems he lost it somehow.

He's spent years searching without success, and has begun to wonder if the dog ever existed at all.

Until one night, a scruffy young man crouched outside his shop.

Putting this aside for now. Still needs revision.
