(Updates paused. This is the personal story of Lin Muzun Zhi, a character from the previous generation in Dawn. I started writing it on a whim.)
[Do what must be done, and don't ask what lies ahead.]
The story takes place in the late Qing and early Republican eras, not long after the defeat in the First Sino-Japanese War. A group of patriotic young people rise up: Cun Zhi, born to a common family; Shen Tianci, from a family of officials; Wenshan Xin, the son of a newly wealthy merchant... Their different backgrounds represent different stages of society, yet their fates become entwined by a shared goal: saving the nation and preserving its people. From the Reform Movement and the Eight-Nation Alliance to the Xinhai Revolution and the fervor of the May Fourth Movement, amid turbulent times and a society in upheaval, she, he, and he quietly awaken in that era.
They came from different places, briefly converging like streams, then eventually became great rivers rushing in every direction, flowing on without end.
Before dawn, we press forward, one after another!
Before daybreak, our mission passes from one generation to the next!
