Starting as a Court Clerk in the 1970s

Lin Anxiu had a special ability from childhood: whenever a written record didn't match the facts, the words would turn red in her eyes.

This golden finger didn't make her famous or successful, because knowing something was wrong didn't mean she knew the right answer.

Then, after graduating from college and failing the civil-service exam twice, she transmigrated by accident to 1973, into the body of a high school graduate about to be sent to the countryside as an educated youth.

The good news: not long ago, she had saved the neighborhood director. To repay her, the director gave her two choices: he could arrange a job for her as a court clerk, or have his son marry her.

The bad news: her family wanted both options. They planned to give the job to her older brother and the marriage to her.

Lin Anxiu thought this was great. Who knew doing a good deed could bring such a reward? In her previous life, she had struggled with ability, luck, and connections, and still might not have landed this job. In this life, all she had to do was say yes. She wanted the job, but not the marriage!

In this era, cases were decided mainly on testimony, witnesses, and crime-scene investigations. Her golden finger could help her find gaps in the chain of evidence, and she had landed right at the perfect moment to benefit from the changing times.

From court clerk to chief judge, then to president of the court.

She held fast to the principles of the rule of law, never wronging an innocent person or letting a guilty one go. She earned glowing reviews throughout the capital, and everyone affectionately called her "Lin the Just."

Lin Anxiu: "It's too kind of you. No golden finger is useless; you just have to know how to use it."

Reading guide: The heroine puts herself first and doesn't overthink things. The hero seems aloof but is actually socially anxious, and works as a forensic technician in the criminal investigation department. Both are sexually inexperienced. There are a few awful characters. This is a career-focused story about a formidable heroine.

Theme: Never let justice come late.
