And You Say This Isn't a Detective Agency

Lately... It seems like lots of people seeking a detective's help have been heading to Beika Town? Full of questions, the little detective went to investigate the supposedly strange detective agency that everyone said was great. The place had an eye-catching sign: Matchmaking Shrine. What kind of respectable shrine would open in the middle of Tokyo?! The little detective was confused, utterly bewildered. With curiosity burning bright, the little detective decided to go undercover and befriend Mr. Matsuda, the owner of the Matchmaking Shrine. Some time later... Little Detective: It's a detective agency. Matsuda: No, it's a matchmaking shrine. Little Detective: How can you possibly look at this and not see a detective agency?! Matsuda: This is absolutely a matchmaking shrine! Little Detective: You take money to solve people's problems, investigate deaths and affairs, and find people using photos. And you still say it's not a detective agency, Mr. Matsuda? Matsuda: ... [Insulting.jpg] Matsuda survived the Ferris wheel. But nobody else knew how it had happened, just as nobody knew why Matsuda had resigned from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department afterward. Only Matsuda knew that after the bomb went off, he had seen an old man with a white beard. [Because you prayed so sincerely at the shrine, I decided to bring your precious bond to a touching, fulfilling conclusion.] That was what the self-proclaimed god of matchmaking had said. [When a person's bond with an unnamed being reaches a certain level, the dead can be brought back to the world of the living.] After leaving the hospital, Matsuda used the identity given to him by the old man: the matchmaking god's emissary in the human world. He helped living beings overcome their troubles. Red lines for love. Blue lines for friendship. Yellow lines for family. Transparent lines belonged only to little monsters. Matsuda worked diligently and tirelessly, collecting the threads that connected people to one another. A blue thread stretched from him into the void. One hundred and eight of them pulled Hagiwara's soul back to the world of the living. But he was only a soul. He could see people, but couldn't even communicate with them. Matsuda, who had been trying for more than four years, said it was no problem. If one hundred and eight wasn't enough, he'd use two hundred and sixteen. If that didn't work, he'd use three hundred and twenty-four. With that resolve, he met a golden-haired classmate. When Matsuda wrapped a blue thread around Furuya's hand, Furuya looked at him with the concern one might show a person with an intellectual disability and suggested: [Why not try a red one?] One thread, and the problem was cured. The golden-haired man stared in disbelief as his childhood friend appeared beside him as a soul. Matsuda looked at Furuya and Hiromitsu. Matsuda pondered. Matsuda picked up a red thread, and got a sobbing Hagiwara in return. Theme: No matter what it takes, I'll bring you back.
