[Untouchable, Heartless Heroine x Sickly, Younger, Wolf-in-Sheep's-Clothing Hero]
Yu Suihe is the Cloud Palace Venerable, renowned throughout the Fourteen Provinces.
Her sole disciple, Shen Zhuo, has a dazzlingly beautiful face and a bold, spoiled nature. Only in front of her does he reluctantly sheathe his claws.
Everyone laments that the Venerable indulges this disciple far too much.
Yu Suihe only shakes her head and smiles. "It's fine. He's still young."
Shen Zhuo is pleased and smug.
Spoiled by her favor, he lazily rests his head on Yu Suihe's lap after making a mistake and says, "Master, I'm better than all of them, aren't I?"
Yu Suihe lowers her eyes, runs a fingertip over the vermilion mark between his brows, and quietly replies, "Mm."
Until one day, a face exactly like Shen Zhuo's appears.
The man ignores everyone and walks straight toward Yu Suihe on her raised seat. His voice, as clear as broken jade, carries a wistful sigh of someone returning after a long absence.
"A He, I'm back."
Shen Zhuo feels as if he's fallen into an ice cave.
"Master..."
His voice hoarse, he grabs Yu Suihe's sleeve in a panic.
But Yu Suihe doesn't look at him. After a long while, a soft murmur, half sigh and half whisper, escapes her lips: "...Senior Brother."
The flames in the young man's eyes die out, his blazing sun turns to ash, and he looks like a pathetic joke abandoned by its owner.
So the favor he had begged for in every possible way was only reflected light from someone else.
[The one she indulged was never Shen Zhuo.]
[The one she waited for, from beginning to end, was only her senior brother, who left a hundred years ago.]
[And he was just a counterfeit.]
Reading guide:
1. The senior brother is not a scumbag. This is a substitute trope, but the heroine has never been pining for someone she can't have. The male lead and second male lead are both pursuing her.
2. Happy ending, but it may not exactly be one-on-one. The heroine may want them both.
3. Don't ask whether the male lead is a virgin. In my books, the male lead is always pure in every way, or you're welcome to come chop me up.
