New story: "A Rugged Road"
A slow-burning frontier romance
---------Blurb----------
In the fifth year of Cheng'an, General Lu Hanxun earned great merit in a northern campaign against the Huihe. The entire court watched to see what reward General Lu would receive.
But no one expected an imperial decree from Princess Regent Chu Yulan. Aside from granting him the title of General of the Cloud Banner, it transformed Lu Hanxun into the son-in-law of the Great Yin imperial family: Princess Anyi, Chu Yujin, was to marry General Lu Hanxun.
A royal marriage brought limitless blessings.
Yet everyone could see that this supposed boundless imperial favor was really the princess regent's way of keeping Lu Hanxun under supervision and control. Lu Hanxun understood this, the princess regent understood it, and so did Yujin, who traveled to the frontier with a generous dowry.
Not only that, Yujin knew that Lu Hanxun had once loved spirited, dashing women who could ride and shoot, full of passion and abandon.
She, on the other hand, had been too delicate to lift or carry anything since childhood. Frail and slender, she preferred quiet to activity. Her favorite pastime wasn't drawing a bow until it was round as the moon, but threading a needle, cutting cloth, and embroidering flowers.
It was easy to imagine how difficult it would be to make this marriage work.
During the long journey of a thousand li, Yujin thought about the obstacles that lay ahead. But she could also remember how, decades ago, the young Lu Lang, still a boy, had worn loose robes and light furs as he cut down enemy generals and captured their banners.
When she was little, her mother had told her she was stubborn by nature: once she made up her mind, she never gave up easily.
Her elder sister had said that if life at the frontier proved difficult, she could come home, and her sister would never let her suffer or shed tears.
With a way back like that, why not give it a try?
Important notes:
1. The blurb is already full of potential deal-breakers. Read it and decide for yourself whether to steer clear. Enter with caution.
2. The world continues from "Yulan's Song" and is an alternate setting.
Message: Cherish others, and cherish yourself.
I stayed up all night to finish reading it, and I have to say that the writing is really good, whether it is the characterization of the characters or the ups and downs of the plot, the writing is very good. The biggest turning point in the book should be Lan's seizure of power and Jin's entry into the Turks (her tenacity and bravery impressed me), but I still don't understand why even though Lan already knew Yao's style and character, and was betrayed, no substantive treatment was done. Instead, this hidden danger was allowed to exist, and the royal family was often questioned by the people, and its own reputation was also affected. Moreover, Yao and the nominal emperor clearly had no relationship. Quan can actually easily sideline Lan who has been in power for so long (maybe I didn't see it), and Yao's ending seems not to be mentioned (maybe I missed it). I'm sleepy. Thank you so much for allowing me to read such a wonderful article for free. I hope the author can be less affected by the bad outside world. Suddenly I thought of an inappropriate sentence, "I want to go my own way, even if I am scolded, I will go even if I have no one to accompany me." I will see you later! ❤️❤️❤️
After reading No Solution before, I read a lot of other novels. I read Forty Chapters of Intolerance on a pirated website. It really attracted me. I really like this form and style of novels. I particularly like it. I really want to read the whole content. If the author sees me, can I buy the document for the full price?
I found that my wife is really good at writing this kind of sour articles about chasing wives. She is one of the few authors who makes me feel that every article about chasing my wife is a mindless one. I really hope that my wife doesn't care too much about malicious comments. Your articles are really good, and I will be your forever reader [Orange Heart]
I was scared to death. Fortunately, Qiu Tang is fine. Thank you to the kind-hearted author.
Yuqian's journey has been so difficult 😭
Yuqian is a super cute sister-in-law
There's going to be a war again, one wave after another.
People who are as fake as Yugao only blame others and never think about their own problems.
Omg this guy is so annoying. . .
Great article!!
