Only I Cherish the Spring Scenery

A Ying was an orphan, having lost both her parents at a young age.

Fortunately, her mother had an adoptive younger brother who might give her a place to stay. She went to find him alone, only to be met by green-tiled roofs, vermilion walls, and jade steps.

Only then did she learn that this unfamiliar young uncle was none other than the lofty Son of Heaven.

The Son of Heaven had practiced Daoism for many years. He lived alone in the Western Palace, indifferent by nature and with no harem, serene and cool as jade. The first time A Ying met him, she timidly looked up and called him "Little Uncle." The emperor on the throne raised his eyes and answered softly, "All right."

A Ying settled in just like that, and from then on she had a little uncle. She knew the emperor treated her well. Her clothes, food, and daily necessities were all of the finest quality, and she never received fewer gifts at festivals than anyone else. She was treated no worse than a princess.

By all rights, she should not have wanted anything more. But later, she was still led astray and deceived by a man. In less than a year, she died after enduring his abuse.

With her dying breath, she ran back to the emperor's side, and in the end, died in his arms.

She should never have left her little uncle. She should have listened to him. That was what she thought in her final moments.

It seemed that no matter what she did wrong, he had always accepted her without condition.

A Ying opened her eyes and discovered she had been reborn. This time, she thought, she would never yearn for romantic love again. She only wanted to stay by her little uncle's side and go nowhere else.

The male and female leads are not blood relatives. The female lead was never entered in the imperial clan register either. Only the two of them use the form of address above, and only occasionally in private. Nobody else thinks they have any particular relationship.
