After being abandoned by his owner, Yage, a tabby cat, transmigrates across parallel worlds and arrives in District Eight, known as the "Beast Arena."
Fighting and killing are part of everyday life here.
The moment the scrawny Yage arrives, the other cats call him "a helpless little kitten, weak to the point of being unable to care for himself."
Yage responds to the unkind nickname with action: "Even a weak little kitten like me can outlive you all."
"You know my biggest secret. Let me think about what to do with you."
Yage walks out the door and runs into the most fearsome boss on the street, secretly eating dessert. He doesn't panic at all. Instead, he goes inside to make dessert, bringing out his owner's foolproof trick for smoothing ruffled fur: If you're mad, eat some more.
After that, the boss's daily routine is to leave grumbling and come back in high spirits.
"Hello, new kitten. I'm your neighbor. Want to go sunbathing together?"
Yage takes the bait, only to discover that sunbathing isn't just sunbathing. His neighbor has reserved a VVVIP seat to watch people fight, and a whole gang of burly cats call him Big Brother.
With the murderous aura radiating from his underlings, Yage fears he'll blurt out what he's thinking at any moment: "Sorry, I was blind. I'm not worthy of basking in the same sunlight as you."
After finally finding a job, Yage sees bloodied customers coming and going from the shop every day. Over time, he realizes the owner is only pretending to run a tea shop. In reality, he's the best doctor in District Eight.
And the fishing buddy he often meets isn't simple, either.
Yage: ???
I'm just an ordinary kitten. Is it really appropriate for me to keep running into these big shots and even becoming friends with them?
The cats passing by: By "ordinary," do you mean the kind that kicks street champions flying and knocks out former gang bosses with a few punches?
In any case, every day you survive is worth celebrating.
