Xiong Baobei was as soft-tempered as a steamed bun because in her previous life, she had been an easygoing capybara with no worldly desires. After she died, a guy called the System latched onto her and forcibly assigned her a task to transmigrate into a book.
Oh well, since she was here, she might as well make the best of it. Using her knowledge of the plot as a little golden finger, Baobei avoided quite a few problems in advance. The one person she couldn't avoid was the male lead, Ni Tu.
In the plot, Baobei was the real heiress and a supporting female character. Baobei was merely a cannon-fodder supporting character who moved the plot along, with hardly any scenes of her own.
The plot moved quickly, and Baobei's birth parents soon came to find her. From then on, Xiong Baobei became Xiao Baobei.
At that moment, the young male lead was asking Xiao Baobei what had happened. He was strikingly handsome, unlike any child a village in the mountains could have raised. A hint of aloofness and stubbornness already showed between his brows.
Xiao Baobei lowered her gaze after sizing him up. Following the System's instructions, she timidly said something hurtful.
"Ni Tu, don't come looking for me anymore. I'm fine. Mom will be unhappy if she finds out you came to see me."
Ni Tu hated nothing more than people who were timid and submissive.
Sure enough, Xiao Baobei felt his gaze turn cold. But what he said wasn't the line from the original plot.
Xiao Baobei was a little surprised, but fortunately, the System didn't detect anything amiss. This scene only needed to inspire the male lead's resolve to make something of himself.

Ni Tu's original name was Ni Ba. With neither father nor mother, he grew up eating at the homes of kindhearted villagers.
He was born emotionally detached, with little interest in anything around him. Baobei was the sole exception.
Baobei was pretty, had a soft voice, and was wonderful in every way. The only thing Ni Tu disliked was her soft, pushover personality. Anyone could bully her.
Yet this softhearted girl, after getting a taste of power, had started letting her disdain for him show in every word.
Ni Tu hid every emotion from his eyes and merely reached out to gently stroke the top of her head.

The System had never had such a satisfying Host. She did whatever it asked, without ever entertaining any outrageous ideas. So when her Host sidestepped a few unimportant plot points, the System turned a blind eye.
But...
Could someone please tell the System why the male lead not only failed to end up with the heroine, but also had the Xiao family's assets seized before forcibly claiming Xiao Baobei for himself?
The System gazed tearfully at the ever-compliant Xiao Baobei. You little... You weren't a capybara in your previous life, you were a vixen!
