Want to Come to My Place and Wait Out the Rain?

News of the death of genius musician Chen Shiyan at a German psychiatric sanatorium set the press ablaze.

He had a talent destined to be immortalized in music history, a strikingly beautiful appearance, and an unusually young age. When these qualities are linked to death, the result is always intensely dramatic.

So media outlets around the world reported on it. Amid the uproar, one opinion after another emerged, each louder than the last.

Chen Shiyan's unpublished final work was only half a serenade. The first half was said to have vanished without a trace, so the piece could only begin at its climax.

Its melody was tender and deeply moving, a style he had rarely explored.

In Xu Yi's memory, Chen Shiyan was temperamental, gloomy, and quiet. She didn't think she had much to do with this internationally renowned genius, aside from having attended the same high school class as him.

Even his death had failed to catch her attention.

Until a lawyer came to her door and told her that Chen Shiyan had named her as his heir.

Only then did Xu Yi remember, and find, in an old yearbook, the first half of the serenade the whole world was searching for.

The media revealed its name, chosen by Chen Shiyan before his death: Love's Longing.

Reborn in high school, during summer vacation.

Xu Yi's mother sent her out to take out the trash. On her way back, she came across Chen Shiyan, drenched in the rain and looking like a miserable little puppy.

Xu Yi thought of the news stories about him she'd seen in her previous life, the inheritance he'd left her, and the serenade called Love's Longing.

She moved closer and asked softly, "Want to come to my house and wait out the rain?"
