The two male leads are Yu Yun and Jiang Hui. They are inside a Chinese painting from the Tang Dynasty without knowing it. They meet each other and discover that they are in the painting. Later, they are forced apart by traditional ideas from ancient times. Unable to bear the public scrutiny, Yu Yun takes his own life. When Jiang Hui finds out, they suddenly emerge from the painting. Because Kui Shui tears up the painting, Yu Yun doesn't die, and the two continue living in the real world. The painter, Kui Shui, is forced to destroy the painting and take her own life.
