Three months later, Xue Lingyu stopped pestering him.
Ning Shu thought he was finally free.
That was until the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, when he saw Xue Lingyu standing on an arched bridge, shyly holding the arm of a young man in white. A faint dimple showed at the corner of her lips.
Ning Shu stood by the river, and the jade ring in his hand immediately snapped in two.

By the warm brazier, behind the bed curtains, a maid urged from outside: “Your Highness, your future husband and his family are here.”
Xue Lingyu said nothing, only raising an eyebrow as she glanced at the uninvited guest in her room.
Ning Shu yanked the jade pendant from her waist and clutched it tightly in his palm. He leaned in and pinned her against the bed. “Who exactly are you going to marry?”
