At eighteen, Qi Ke came down from the mountains to find work. Waiting at a crossroads, she looked up and saw Shen Hanyan, the woman from the screen.
Rain fell from the sky. The woman's eyes were full of feeling, as if she stood in another world overflowing with dazzling colors.
Qi Ke stared, transfixed, as the rain soaked her through.
At twenty-three, Shen Hanyan sat in her nanny van. Beyond the rain-blurred window, lights glittered. The brightest spot was the new billboard featuring her.
The rain tapped beside her ears, and the woman quietly closed her eyes.
The rainy night was brief. No one noticed the lonely figure by the roadside.
Time flew by, but the rain from Qi Ke's youth never stopped.
From martial arts instructor, to rookie actress, to overnight sensation watched by millions.
She had plotted this for a long time, and at last her wish came true.
