No. A real mentally ill person is someone whose differences you would never notice. They cleverly hide in the crowd, disguising themselves as an ordinary person and making sure no one suspects a thing.
Chapters 1-10 are exposition. The story begins in Chapter 11, so feel free to skip the earlier chapters if you like!
