The Great War God Decides to Retire

After working 996 hours, Gui Ye opens his eyes and discovers that he has become the True Martial Demon-Suppressing God, Gui Ye.

The True Martial Demon-Suppressing God was once the greatest war god of the Three Realms and Five Paths. In the war between gods and demons eight hundred years ago, he used his imposing, mighty Lie Shui Spear to drive the Demon Venerable Bu Qi into retreat again and again, finally spearing him into the bottomless Chanyuan Abyss.

Now, Gui Ye holds a cushy post in charge of military affairs in the divine realm. Everyone regrets that he quit at the height of his career, but he doesn't care at all.

His two young disciples are sweet and well-behaved, his coworkers are all handsome men and beautiful women, he has plenty of free time to visit famous mountains and rivers, and he can spend all the gold and jewels he wants...

He's about to retire. Why wouldn't he?

Unfortunately, his carefree days don't last long. Gui Ye is horrified to discover that he has been maintaining a secret identity, Bie Li, in the demon realm.

It turns out Bu Qi isn't quite dead. Unwilling to accept defeat, he's pretending to retire while secretly lying low and waiting for a chance to kill the Demon Venerable with his spear.

Gui Ye is at a loss.

Can he just pretend this never happened?

The Divine Emperor, Shen Cang, is his direct superior. His power is unfathomable, his looks are breathtaking, and he has a finger that can turn stone into gold.

His superior is just like his name: he rarely speaks, but when he does, he offers a price that's hard to refuse. "Get rid of Bu Qi, and I'll turn all nine mountains where your residence stands into gold."

Gui Ye is speechless.

Gui Ye is tempted.

Gui Ye steels himself and takes the job.

If anything could be more enticing than retirement, it would have to be retiring atop nine mountains of gold!
