[Short Blurb]:
Wen Lingxue was a bonded spirit sword abandoned by its master.
Pei Ming found him deep in the Wutian Ravine.
From then on, Wen Lingxue became Pei Ming's sword.
[Long Blurb]:
As a sword spirit, Wen Lingxue had a few little flaws that were somewhat out of place, like being afraid of the dark and having a bit of a cleanliness obsession.
Who would believe a sword could be a neat freak?
A sword's purpose is to kill: people, demons, monsters. It doesn't return without drawing blood.
Then he was abandoned in the Wutian Ravine.
The Wutian Ravine had everything you could ask for, too.
Dark, cold, and sunless, it was known as the garbage dump of the myriad heavens.
Severed limbs of unknown origin, and little demons that squelched as they wriggled along.
To be abandoned by its master as a bonded spirit sword was a disgrace for any weapon, past or present.
Wen Lingxue was abandoned because his master had stabbed the son of a family friend, someone with whom he shared a love-hate relationship.
The son survived, and his master was heartbroken.
And he, an innocent sword, was made to atone with his life.
Wen Lingxue: Damn it! A sword's purpose is to kill. Who it kills is none of his business!
Many years later, a young man came to the depths of the Wutian Ravine, muttering, "They say that when moonlight falls into the Wutian Ravine, a treasure appears."
It was a lie. There were no treasures in the Wutian Ravine, only garbage, demons, and mountains of corpses and rivers of blood.
Following the moonlight, he found Wen Lingxue and brought him out of the ravine.
The young man was named Pei Ming. He repeatedly tried to refine Wen Lingxue into his bonded sword, but his cultivation couldn't compare to that of the previous master. He failed every time and could only gaze at him in dismay.
Once, Wen Lingxue let slip that Pei Ming was the second most talented person he'd ever seen.
Pei Ming wouldn't let it go. He demanded to know who was first, then muttered to himself, "How can a man be second? Someday I'll defeat him and become the undisputed number one under heaven!"
People like him are called Dragon Aotian.
Later, when Pei "Aotian" Ming gripped Wen Lingxue by the hilt and stabbed his former master through the heart, Wen Lingxue drank his fill of blood and rang out with excitement.
A sword's purpose is to kill. It doesn't matter who it kills.
For an abandoned bonded spirit sword, killing its master matters.
A bonded spirit sword abandoned by its master is fated to be incomplete, but a sword that devours its master drinks its fill of hot blood and gains the precious gift of freedom.
