Yin Youqing thinks she is actually pretty lucky. She's heard that she died horribly, but... whatever. She doesn't remember it anyway.
What's more, she was lucky enough to catch the underworld recruiting on a scale they only see once in a century. With guidance from a diligent, responsible senior ghost enforcer, even she, a ghost wrapped in resentment, has a chance to become one. For now, though, she's only an intern.
But to become a full-fledged ghost enforcer, she has to take missions and earn merit. And to take missions, two intern ghost enforcers have to team up.
Yin Youqing: "Hey, sis! Let's team up! I can really fight! One punch from me can turn a ferocious ghost to dust!"
Female Ghost 1: "Uh... no thanks. You could knock me out without even throwing a punch."
Yin Youqing: "Hey, little guy! Team up with me! Big sis can protect you!"
Little Ghost 1: "Waaah! Waaah! Waaah!"
Senior Ghost Enforcer: "Yin Youqing! How many times have I told you? Don't get so close to children! Your resentment is way too strong!"
Yin Youqing: "Hey, you there! Big guy! Don't go! Team up with me! Together we'll be unstoppable, and we'll have our full-fledged ghost badges by tomorrow!"
Male Ghost 1: "No, no. I'd rather play it safe."
This is bad! If she waits any longer, even her intern ghost enforcer status will expire!
But with all that resentment clinging to her, no one... uh, no ghost... is willing to partner with her.
Luckily, a new batch of ghosts has just arrived. Yin Youqing strikes first and grabs a frail, sickly young man whom all the ghosts avoid.
"Team up with me!" Yin Youqing tears a small hole through the black fog of resentment wrapped around her, revealing a pair of expressive black eyes. As she struggles against the fog, she does her best to shape her lips into a friendly smile.
"I'll protect you. Let's take missions together and become full-fledged ghost enforcers!"
In the hush that falls over all the ghosts, a slightly hoarse yet clear voice breaks the oppressive silence.
"All right."
