Yun Miao is a country bumpkin.

After working hard to get into college on a scholarship, he moves into a co-ed dorm.

On the day he arrives, he stands awkwardly by the door in an old summer outfit washed faded yellow. He looks hopelessly country, yet the sun has left his little face pink and tender as a peach.

For a long moment, no one says a word.

Only the tall young man by the empty bed takes his luggage and says quietly, "Come in."

The little country bumpkin can't afford to rent a place off campus.

So even though his roommates don't seem very welcoming, Yun Miao decides to try to get along with them.

Especially Zhou Suwu, the kind soul who helped carry his luggage.

He hears that Zhou Suwu has a strange illness. Yun Miao is timid and doesn't know how to show kindness, so he secretly does nice things for Zhou Suwu the way people back in his village would.

He mends his old clothes, slips food into his backpack... and when Zhou Suwu is burning up in the middle of the night and seems to have a fever, Yun Miao presses his face to Zhou Suwu's and lets him hold him to cool down.

Sure enough, they grow closer!

But Zhou Suwu says he doesn't want to take advantage of him, so he puts a price on every kind gesture. Even when Yun Miao refuses payment, he swaps it for an even more expensive gift.

And at some point, their face-to-face treatment starts to change.

They hold hands and hug, and sometimes, when the symptoms get bad, they need to be even more intimate.

Yun Miao thinks that if things keep going this way, they'll definitely become good friends.

But a few days later, a classmate tells him that Zhou Suwu actually has a severe case of mysophobia and hates people touching his things.

Yun Miao freezes. "Then what if I touched him?"

His classmate gives him a meaningful look. "Good luck."

After that, Yun Miao avoids Zhou Suwu for several days.

The little country bumpkin, convinced he's messed everything up, racks his brains trying to mend their friendship before it falls apart.

He's already opened the gifts Zhou Suwu gave him, so he can't return them. But he has no money...

In the end, staring at a recruitment ad for a maid cafe on the campus forum, Yun Miao decides to pay him back by working part-time-

Only to turn around and find Zhou Suwu blocking his way inside the cafe.

The man looks grim, as if Yun Miao has really made him furious.

"..." Glancing at the man's arms, each thicker than his thigh, Yun Miao grabs his finger and plays dumb, trembling in his traditional black-and-white maid dress. "A-are you sick again?"

So slow, so dumb.

His face is about to get bitten, and he's still coming over with those eager eyes.

*Bonus scene:

Yun Miao feels like his classmate lied to him.

Holding his hand, biting his cheek... If Yun Miao didn't protest so fiercely, Zhou Suwu would probably want to carry him around even when he went out.

That's nothing like the mysophobia people talk about online.

The man in front of him doesn't deny it. He raises an eyebrow and leans in to kiss him.

Yun Miao hurriedly covers his mouth, so the man kisses his fingertips instead and laughs hoarsely. "Sweetheart, why are you disgusted by your own things?"
