Su Li has always admired the brilliant science students. When she hears that a physics prodigy has transferred to her school this semester, she keeps asking around for news about him. But he never shows up, and she starts to suspect the students made the whole thing up.
At the school's third photography exhibition, Su Li and Chen Xi "meet by fighting." They start off unable to stand each other, then are forced to go on an autumn outing together. Later, they go hiking, open up to each other, and gradually fall in love as they spend time together.
Just as everything is starting to go well, Su Li receives an acceptance letter from the overseas university of her dreams. An old car accident resurfaces, too, and the two grow further and further apart. Su Li chooses to study abroad.
Seven years later, Su Li returns to the country. At a cafe near the school, she senses something familiar. Could it be him?!
Their old high school invites them to take part in an upcoming event celebrating the heritage of Chinese culture. They meet again, but part ways unhappily because of their different views.
At an auto show, Su Li discovers that the car accident from years ago was deliberate, and begins investigating. During the investigation, she finds that Chen Xi is also looking into it in secret. They briefly make peace and join forces to uncover the truth behind the accident.
Just as the truth is about to come out, Su Li's fashion label studio, Free, runs into one financial and product problem after another. Under public pressure, Su Li is put on a moral pedestal. As Chen Xi secretly sends help through an intermediary and assists her in getting through the crisis, he also discovers who caused the accident.
When the truth finally comes out, Su Li overworks herself, and her old illness flares up again.
Chen Xi goes abroad to win her back, but Su Li refuses to see him.
Su Li returns to the country, and Chen Xi seeks her out again, only to be turned away once more.
At the haute couture show hosted by Free, they meet again. Chen Xi takes Su Li's hand and says in a trembling voice, almost pleading, "Su Li, please give me one more chance."
When the sun sets, there is Su Li. After dawn breaks, there is Chen Xi.
