The first half of my life was spent going back and forth between loving you and hating you.

When Xie Chenyao was sixteen, there was someone she liked. But at seventeen, she left him behind, chose to go abroad alone, and vanished into the vast sea of humanity.
What she didn't know was that after she left, Zhou Zheng'an searched for her for three whole years.
Years later, fate brought them together again. Xie Chenyao never expected to see Zhou Zheng'an at a friend's engagement party.
By then, she had a fiance, and the two of them had adopted an adorable little girl. He, meanwhile, was Luocheng's hottest rising business tycoon, someone everyone was scrambling to surpass, yet secretly wanted to replace and become.
Their eyes met by chance. Xie Chenyao's fingers paused, and she knocked over her wineglass. She ran out of the banquet hall alone, only to be cornered by the man who had been closing in on her step by step.
To her surprise, he simply stood in the wind, facing the night alone, his expression cold and desolate, as if she were nothing more than a passerby he had forgotten the moment they brushed shoulders.
But after a long, wordless silence, he surrendered to her once again.
Kneeling on one knee, he wiped the wine stain from her dress. Zhou Zheng'an's fingers tensed until they turned blue. His dark eyes gradually filled with a gloom that would not fade as he sneered, "Xie Chenyao, you can attend an engagement party like this, so I guess you've been living quite happily these past few years."
The night was dark as ink. A stained tissue was crushed in a fist and trampled underfoot.
Xie Chenyao bit her lip without saying a word and turned to leave, but Zhou Zheng'an suddenly grabbed her arm and pinned her against the cold wall.
The next moment, their breaths mingled. His familiar, icy scent swept over her, blotting out everything else. He leaned close, his hot palm gripping her cold wrist.
In an instant, a storm was brewing.
Zhou Zheng'an's gaze was almost obsessive, but at her trembling, he still released her. A cold smile touched his lips. "But Xie Chenyao, tell me, why should a liar get to be happy?"
His clearly mocking words rang in her ears, yet Xie Chenyao couldn't stop her eyes from falling to his left hand.
She should hate him, shouldn't she?
Then why was Zhou Zheng'an still wearing the bracelet she had made for him with her own hands when she was seventeen?
