The player used to be an unlucky college student, at least until he spent a full 500 years working hard and still found retirement nowhere in sight.
Transmigrating to Teyvat wasn't a bad thing for him. After all, knowing some of the plot meant he could get by even just selling information. The catch was, this was 500 years before the story began.
Looking at the surroundings, which were still practically rough sketches, the player realized that this world was still, in essence, a game. He promptly decided to head to Liyue, whose map was already nearly complete, and start his new life in another world in his happy place.
But after his appearance was completely changed overnight, he had no choice but to board a ship bound for Fontaine. All those years of building a life in Liyue, and his dream of traveling the world, came to nothing.
500 years later, he finally established contact with the game System. The main System, Heavenly Principles, promised that if he staged a grand comedy in Fontaine and won glowing reviews from countless players, he could take his savings, change his appearance, and start a new life.
After poring over posts on the forums, he realized that nothing better captured what the players hoped for from Fontaine than a great revolution. Since putting Focalors on trial was out of the question, he would put himself on trial instead.
And so Neuvillette, Fontaine's chief justice, decided to put himself on trial.
