Yu Yu's family runs a small fishing pond as a paid fishing spot.
When Yu Yu comes home for summer vacation, she finds her parents looking troubled.
No one can catch fish at their pond anymore, and the anglers always go home empty-handed.
Strange rumors have started circulating about the pond, too.
Some say they've seen a water monster. Others say there's something at the bottom of the pond.
Some even claim the family never stocked it with fish at all, and is just scamming people.
In the middle of the night, Yu Yu goes to the pond and tries to net some fish, hoping to disprove the rumors with facts.
But the moment she casts her net, a powerful current capsizes her little fishing boat.
Thrown underwater, Yu Yu sees, in the moonlight shining through the surface,
a mermaid so beautiful she takes her breath away,
and a tail covered in torn, bloody wounds.
A man-eating, brutal, irrational mermaid queen is hunted and driven away by her own kind.
Until, by sheer accident, she finds her way into a peaceful fishing pond.
There, she meets a human.
The human takes her home and cares for her tenderly.
In that moment, her turbulent heart finally finds peace.
When mermaids go too long without finding a mate, they descend into madness.
She searched the entire sea, but found no trace of one.
She never imagined that her mermaid mate would be on land.
