Strawberry Lightning

★ Reunited After a Breakup | Mutual Teasing | Wolf-and-Rabbit Romance | Healing and Redemption

Gentle, flirtatious deaf girl x carefree, cocky, wild young heir

1.

Ke Chuyang is the heir to a prominent Beijing family. With his striking, roguishly handsome looks, bold and uninhibited attitude, and 189-centimeter frame with broad shoulders and long legs, he draws attention wherever he goes and has countless admirers.

You Zhi is quiet and reserved due to her hearing impairment, struggling to get by in the mire of everyday life.

They are worlds apart, and to anyone looking at them, their lives seem destined never to intersect.

But no one knows that You Zhi has been quietly paying attention to Ke Chuyang for a long time.

Until the night of his birthday party.

Taking advantage of the crowd's revelry, You Zhi plucks up her courage and smears a dab of cream onto his collarbone.

As soon as she does it, she feels guilty and tries to escape in the chaos.

But a large hand reaches through the crowd and catches her slender wrist with uncanny precision.

"Why are you running?" comes a lazy, low voice from behind her.

Ke Chuyang tilts his head with an indifferent air, revealing his shapely, defined collarbone, now marked with a conspicuous dab of cream.

He glances at her flushed, delicate ears and smiles as if amused.

"You put it there yourself. Want to taste it?"

2.

Years after their breakup, You Zhi never expected to see Ke Chuyang again.

At a business meeting, he has someone new by his side. Still dazzling and surrounded by people, he chats and laughs, every bit as frivolous and debauched as before.

Her supervisor smiles and makes conversation. "Mr. Ke, I hear our attorney You was your classmate in high school?"

Ke Chuyang gives a scornful laugh. "Who told you that?"

Without even looking up, he curls his lip carelessly. "I don't remember."

After the meeting, You Zhi slips away quietly, only to spot a glowing red ember in the dim stairwell.

Out of courtesy, she greets him in a calm, gentle voice. "Mr. Ke."

Just two words, yet Ke Chuyang stubs out his cigarette and traps her in the corner. Veins bulge at his temple as he grits his teeth and laughs coldly.

"You Zhi, you dare show your face again."

His eyes are red as he stares at her, his voice hoarse. "You made a fool of me back then, like I was some dog."

"You couldn't even bring yourself to say you missed me?"
