She saw Chen Zhu again seven years later.
Lin Mengsui was urgently assigned to conduct an interview with a prominent figure, a much sought-after technology expert in China's chip research field.
At first, she thought it was just someone with the same name. Then they came face to face, and she was left speechless.
Chen Zhu, on the other hand, was distant and indifferent, as if he had forgotten their shared past, and even forgotten her.
A simple "Hello" made the distance between them unmistakable.
-
Back in their student days, Chen Zhu was like the prince from a fairy tale, if the prince had been a girl.
The girls liked his handsome looks and top-student aura, but their admiration was mixed with a touch of pity. They often sighed that if his family hadn't fallen on hard times, he would surely have been a shining star.
Lin Mengsui wasn't that compassionate. She just thought Chen Zhu was perfect in every way, and that they belonged together.
Lin Mengsui barged into Chen Zhu's life.
She made him desserts with her own hands, told him jokes, took him to watch fireworks... She was so good to him that Chen Zhu fell completely in love.
But just before the start of their senior year of high school, Lin Mengsui suddenly left for another country and cut off all contact with Chen Zhu, leaving him only a note that said, "We're not right for each other."
They say her cruelty turned Chen Zhu into a laughingstock at school. Everyone mocked him for foolishly believing a princess could ever fall for a poor boy like him.
Lin Mengsui knew Chen Zhu was proud and would never forgive the humiliation she had inflicted on him.
So when they met again, she didn't dare hope for anything. She understood his coldness and kept things strictly professional.
Until that day.
By pure chance, Lin Mengsui went to an art exhibition with a blind date. Afterward, she unexpectedly saw Chen Zhu outside her apartment building.
The man stood silently, seeming to blend into the night. His long shadow stretched across the ground, lonely and desolate.
When he spoke, his voice broke in the wind. "What was it about us that wasn't right?"
"I'll change."

Excerpt from Chen Zhu's diary:
- Lin Mengsui flirted with me again, and I couldn't study all day.
- She said she loves me. She's a liar.
- It doesn't matter if she's lying.
A few notes:
1. Rich beauty and poor boy, reunion after years apart, rekindled romance.
2. The female lead never fell on hard times and has always been rich. The male lead works twice as hard to turn his life around and catch up with her.
3. The story begins with their reunion, interspersed with memories of their youth.
4. Both leads are sexually inexperienced, and each other's first love. Happy ending.
5. Nothing intimate or inappropriate happens while they are minors.
